We braved a cold windy night at Sydney’s Luna Park for the chance to interview some of the cast of Peter Berg’s latest block-buster action/sci-fi flick ‘Battleship’ which is based on the 1980′s kids board game of the same name.
Here are some of the interviews with first time actress and music megastar Rihanna, ‘Friday Night Lights’ star Taylor Kitsch, the amazing Brooklyn Decker from Adam Sandler’s ‘Just Go With It’, New Zealand actor John Tui who plays ‘Beast’ and finally the director/producer Peter Berg.
Despite Rihanna being rushed down the red carpet by her minders to meet and greet fans, we did have a chance to interview some of the other stars.
Battleship is in cinemas Australia-wide from April 12, 2012
‘Attack the Block’ is a great film. Think ‘Super 8′ mashed with Dizzee Rascal accents and with some of the darker creatures from Jim Henson’s muppet workshop.
We were very fortunate to get the opportunity to speak to ‘Attack the Block’ writer/director Joe Cornish direct from London about his impressive debut feature-film. As he was speaking direct from London apologies for any sound distortion that resulted.
Icon Home Entertainment also sent us an advanced copy of the Australia-edition Blu-ray for us to review so we could let you all know what to expect.
Definitely worth checking out and it is a worth addition to my Blu-ray collection with a great ‘Making-of’ featurette.
We hit the Sydney red carpet for the Australian premiere of ‘The Pirates! Band of Misfits’ starring Hugh Grant. We had time for two quick questions in Hugh’s speedy journey toward the cinema so we talked about his character, Pirate Captain, as well as what it was like to see the stop-motion animation facilities. With a great rating on Rotten Tomatoes this is definitely one to check out.
Here is our Advanced review and overview of the Australian Blu-Ray release of one of my favourite films of the past year, ‘Attack The Block’ (2011) which is written and directed by Joe Cornish which is distributed by Icon Home Entertainment.

MMA drama with Tom Hardy and Aussie, Joel Edgerton as estranged brothers with their own demons/problems that enter a tournament where the last man standing wins $5 million which would help out Edgerton’s character/family as the bank is on the verge of taking his house.
Yeah, really liked this. Tom Hardy is excellent. His scenes with Nick Nolte, ( who has deservedly been nominated for an Oscar in this role and plays a former alcoholic father trying to re-connect and fix his relationships with his sons) are powerful. The fights are well done and I haven’t seen Jennifer Morris since she left House, but she does enough as the worried wife of Edgerton.
Comparable to The Fighter, which is probably fair enough as its more of a drama, that just happens to have fighting (Boxing/MMA) in it. And as much as I love Christian Bale and The Fighter, I’d rate Warrior even higher.
While the film is certainly “Hollywood” in some parts, the performances of the main cast (Nolte/Hardy in particular) and the fight sequences make this film an absolute treat. And the best thing is you don’t have to be a lover of MMA to enjoy it.
